When Daniel Burton's son Bobber is struck by an automobile, he faces a grueling recovery. It's then that a kind act comes back to repay Daniel. Rodney Freeman, a young man whom Daniel had raised as his own, is now a succesful writer and wants to fly them both to the West Coast and pay for the medical expenses. More good fortune follows in Briony Adair, a physical rehab specialist who gains the affection of the patient and his widowed father. At Bobber's invitation, Briony returns with the Burtons to Canaan, Texas, for continued recovery and a big family Christmas. But emotions combust when old and new collide. Will the Burtons lose their family Christmas to jealousy and pride?
