In 1806 William Thornhill is transported from the slums of London to Australia as punishment for stealing. After serving his 8 year sentence, Thornhill sails up the Hawkesbury River to claim land for himself. But Aboriginal people already live along the river forcing Thornhill to make a difficult choice.
